Most children cannot wait for school to be out in June. However, for some parents, when school is out for summer, they worry about where their children will get breakfast or lunch. This summer over thirty local Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) will provide breakfast and lunch to feed hungry children in our community.
Sow Much Good is a CMS Lunch Express site and will begin our summer feeding program on June 21st through August 3rd 2017 at our urban farm located on 3432 Sunset Road, Charlotte, NC 28216 from 11:30am – 12:30pm Monday – Friday. (We will be closed on July 4th) Lunch is free for youth through age 18 and $2.50 for adults over 18 years old.
Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition. The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals at no cost to help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered through the NC Department of Public Instruction.
